Jessica Corpuz in the Beverly Hills Courier: Abortion Clinic Takes Legal Action Over Lease
Published: August 21, 2023
Weintraub litigator Jessica Corpuz is quoted in an August 17, 2023, article for the Beverly Hills Courier covering the recent lawsuit filed by her client, DuPont.
DuPont has operated a clinic in Washington, D.C., for many years, providing oftentimes lifesaving reproductive healthcare services including abortion services, ectopic pregnancy treatment, and birth control services. DuPont planned to extend its care to Beverly Hills until its landlord Douglas Emmett and the City of Beverly Hills bowed to extremist pressure from a vocal minority. On August 14, 2023, DuPont filed a lawsuit against Douglas Emmett for improper termination of DuPont’s lease, and notified the City of Beverly Hills of its intent to file a lawsuit against the City for its interference with DuPont’s lease.
“DuPont chose to open its clinic in Beverly Hills because of the city’s support for abortion. Last year the Beverly Hills City Hall lit up in pink in protest of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, yet when faced with the opportunity to stand up for these ideals, the city and Douglas Emmett bowed to political pressure from anti-abortion extremists.”
